The Matrix is a hi-tech action film with unique slow motions, interesting angles, and a Noir look. It contains a sensational story that “goes down a rabbit hole” to discover the slavery of mankind by machines. It deals with ideas about salvation, prophecies, and  faith. For villains, its has intolerant foes known as agents (led by Hugo Weaving) who support machines in ravaging the world.

Keanu Reeves plays the main protagonist Neo, a computer hacker who is invited into the real world by Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) – it turns out that Neo has been living in a computer simulated environment called the Matrix. Reeves suits the part in looking naive, observant, and focused. When he accepts the invitation , he meets the team of Morpheus who are basically a small rebel group. He begins to gain a love interest with a member named Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) but their relationship is under developed. As for the action scenes, they are the heart of the film that showcase slick gravity defying motions, wall walking, and always with a sense of danger. It generates a genuine feeling of excitement during foot chases. Against the agents, Neo and Morpheus are unmatched due to the agent’s superior strenght. The special effects are crucial to the story which often utilize a green hue if not shadows accompanied by electronic music. Directed by the Wachowskis, The Matrix is one example of a turn-of-the-century type of movie, bringing in a diversified style to action sequences.
